Palace in the historic village of Casentino a few kilometers from Poppi. An oasis of peace and culture to experience Tuscany
450 m2 - ground floor and first floor
In the green Casentino valley, in a crescendo of hills that become mountains, lies the Borgo di Quota. Located at the top of a rock spur at about 680 m above sea level, the village was born from a medieval castle, built by the Guidi Counts, like many other villages in this area. Quota is characterized by the stone with which it is built: the paved streets, the arches and the houses, arranged on levels and with different perspectives to follow the slope of the mountain, create a fascinating environment that preserves the rhythms of ancient times.
The village of Poppi, with shops, banks and a pharmacy, is about 10 km away. In the village, which comes alive in summer, there is a grocery shop for everyday needs, while in the nearby villages, a few kilometers, excellent restaurants welcome you with their local specialties.
In the heart of the town, an ancient mansion adjacent to the town church, there is this building, on two floors, with splendid cellars on the lower floor. The stone of the walls and floors, wood and terracotta are the materials that distinguish the property, which reflects the typical features of the area. The ancient house was the house of the church, characterized by the rustic elegance of mountain houses, which had to show the prestige of their inhabitants.
Entering from the lower floor, you are greeted by an entrance with a stone floor that connects to the upper floor with a wooden staircase. Next to the entrance, in the basement, there is an area used as a cellar, to be restored. On the first floor which also leads to the main entrance, on the small square at the top of the town, there are the magnificent kitchens with a large stone fireplace and slab flooring. A double living room with a more elegant fireplace still has the ancient terracotta floors. On the same floor there are four bedrooms highlighted by the colors of the walls, and a bathroom with shower. On the upper floor there is a further kitchen, a lounge, a dining room, five bedrooms and a bathroom with shower. The upper floor, the attic area, is characterized by splendid beams that create refined geometries.
At the back of the house, there is a private courtyard of approximately 50 m2
